Civil Litigation
We offer advice and litigation services arising from
our wide experience of civil law matters including
proceedings in the County Court, Mercantile Court,
Technology and Construction Court and the Chancery
and Queen’s Bench Divisions of the High Court.
There will also be occasions where proceedings are
not appropriate and in those circumstances we can
offer our experience and advice regarding alternative
dispute resolution and expert-based mediation.
Recent Cases
Instructions were provided by a construction firm
in a claim before the Technology and Construction
Court. The issues included unpaid consideration on
a large residential development claim. The case was
settled on favourable terms within the trial period
We have acted for a sub contractor in a claim against
major plant supplier. The issues in the case were
contractual including an alleged breach of warranty.
The claim was settled following the preparation of
pleadings and exchange of witness evidence
Having been instructed by a commercial developer we
were able to obtain an equitable declaration as to
a right of way. The declaration was obtained by agreement
following the preparation of evidence and mediation.
The granting of the declaration allowed the development
to proceed to completion.
We have been instructed by a commercial developer
to defend ownership of an extensive area of woodlands
acquired by adverse possession.
We have provided advice to the managing director of
a company to defend a claim brought by purchasers
of the company regarding a breach of contract arising
from the sale.

Personal Injury
We have experience of acting for claimants in a wide
variety of claims including employers’ liability,
public liability and road traffic accident claims.
Our case load has included claims of the utmost severity
and industrial disease. Additionally we have been
instructed in fatal accident claims, claims against
the Motor Insurers Bureau (MIB) and multi party claims
in addition to claims on behalf of minors and patients.
Our litigations services are supplemented by a team
of experienced advocates who are available to assist
with the presentation of your case at Court. Our team
includes a Higher Court Advocate who is able to undertake
work before any Court in England and Wales.

Criminal Law
Our criminal defence team is available twenty four
hours a day to advise and represent clients. The
team is accredited by the Law Society and includes
three duty solicitors who are able to provide advice
at our office, Court or police station.
Our fee earners are experienced criminal practitioners
who can provide up to date advice in respect of
the issues in your case and can only advise you
regarding the availability of legal aid in criminal
proceedings.
The team regularly deal with cases before the Magistrates
and Crown Courts through the provision of litigation
and advocacy services by our lawyers and Higher
Court Advocate. These cases range from serious and
complex cases in the Crown Court to motoring offences
in the Magistrates Court.
Recent Cases
We have particular experience of dealing with large
scale drug conspiracies throughout the South Wales
and Bristol area. In recent years we have dealt
with a number of such cases including cases where
the value of drugs seized by the police has been
in excess of £1million.
Our fee earners have experience of dealing with
serious sexual and violent crimes including:
- Inter-familiar allegations of rape and sexual
abuse
- Allegations of sexual abuse within educational
and local authority settings
- Allegations of sexual abuse within a complex
for vulnerable adults
- Allegations of violence towards the residents
of care homes
- Acquittal following allegation of attempted
murder involving youths where other defendants
were convicted
- Serious public order incidents within the community
and also prisons where defendants were represented
following a mutiny
Additionally we have experience in advising clients
regarding the recent changes in criminal law and
in particular the changes brought about by the Criminal
Justice Act 2003. We are able to provide advice
and advocacy assistance in respect of applications
brought by the Local Authority and Police for Anti
Social Behaviour Orders (ASBO) and orders under
the Sexual Offences Act 2003 as these orders are
often restrictive and can be imposed even if you
have never been convicted of a criminal offence
